My work experience week at Push Start Marketing

We hosted a work experience student from Cokethorpe School last week, and as part of her last day, Hilary made her write a blog! Actually, Izzy was a delight to have around and proved useful in researching hashtags and social media influencers for Hilary, and minute taking and publishing design for Lucy.

We do enjoy having young, aspirational students with us, it's good for all. Please enjoy Izzy's account of her week with us:

'During my week at Push Start Marketing I have learnt about what the work environment is like as well as the work ethic that is needed to succeed. I was able to gain this insight by witnessing how dedicated and passionate Hilary and Lucy are in what they do. Although I enjoyed the whole week, my personal highlight was going to see Castle Minibuses in Bicester and experiencing what a professional business meeting was like. This really helped me grasp the benefits of altering your work and making it more interactive with your audience, which allowed me to improve my design for a local council magazine.

While I have been with Push Start Marketing, I have been trying to change the design of the front cover of the Bicester town council magazine ‘The Garth Gazette.’ I was looking at which appropriate fonts and colours to use depending on who I thought the reader would be, which is why the meeting with Castle really helped me with this project. I really enjoyed the graphic design side of the business.

On the first day, I began by researching a client of Push Start Marketing called Alice Jade Designs and was looking at the social media side of her business. I then began looking at how snapchat could improve the advertising of her company and whether it would be worth the time and money invested. I came to the conclusion that advertising on snapchat would be more successful for a brand such as Adidas, which is specifically targeted for people my age, rather than a business such as Alice Jade Designs. However other clients like Kupu could benefit from this.

Finally, by doing work experience with Push Start Marketing I feel like I have learnt vital skills that can be used in both work and social environments. I would just like to thank Lucy and Hilary for giving me this opportunity and making me feel so welcome throughout the week.'

Thank you for coming in, Izzy and for the lovely lily (pictured), also thanks to Mrs Amy Bignell, Careers Coodinator at Cokethorpe for organising.
