* Hot off the press * Daybreak's lottery funding hits the Leys News

Daybreak Dementia Day Club members celebrate with a glass of bubbly

Daybreak Oxford (dementia day clubs) have secured funding from the National Lottery for their Greater Leys club.

Lindsay Manifold, Community Fundraiser for Daybreak, and our main client contact said, 'We are delighted with the news. It is wonderful to know that our Daybreak Rosewood Club can now run for the next three years, allowing us to focus our fundraising on keeping our other clubs in Kidlington and North Oxford operating and expanding to help more lonely and vulnerable people in Oxfordshire.'

Push Start Marketing has not been involved in writing the grant applications, but we are involved with establishing relationships with members of the local press, to ensure that are clients' stories receive the publicity they deserve.

We carefully worded the article and coached Lindsay, to demonstrate that despite receiving £100,000 of funding, Daybreak are still going to be focussed on fundraising for the other clubs, activities and facilities. Sometimes when news like this breaks it can be damaging to charities, giving the impression that they have money and don't need support any longer. This is never the case with charitably funded organisations such as Daybreak. Indeed, as Lindsay said, there are two other clubs and potentially new venues that require financial support, not to mention members for the board of trustees and corporate sponsorship to find.

The Lottery grant has been a hugely beneficial and very much appreciated cash injection, but we all still have our work cut out to ensure the future of these vital dementia services in Oxfordshire.
